SOOBIN Hoang Son: Art is a journey without a stopping point

With his great efforts in the program “Anh trai vu ngan chong gai” and his creativity in music, SOOBIN is considered to have made outstanding contributions to popularizing and preserving the national cultural identity.

Recently, singer SOOBIN Hoang Son (Nguyen Huynh Son) was honored as one of the 10 Outstanding Young Vietnamese Faces of 2024, voted by the Central Youth Union.

The professional council assessed that the male singer has made outstanding contributions to popularizing and preserving the national cultural identity. He performed and renewed songs such as “Trong com” and “Chiec khan pieu” in the program “Anh trai vu ngan chong gai” which caused a stir.

On this occasion, SOOBIN Hoang Son shared with VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper his feelings when receiving this honor.

Efforts to bring Vietnamese music to the world

– How does SOOBIN feel about receiving the title “Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face” in the field of culture and art?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: I feel extremely honored and happy to receive the title “Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face.” This is not only a personal pride but also a great motivation for SOOBIN to continue contributing to art and the community.

I would like to send my sincere thanks to the Party, the State, the audience and those who have always accompanied and supported me on the past journey. This award will be a source of encouragement for SOOBIN to constantly strive, be creative and bring more quality products.

– After a series of awards that demonstrate recognition from experts and audiences, SOOBIN’s contributions have now been highly appreciated by the Party and the State. Does this title give you a different feeling than when you stepped on stage to receive the Mai Vang Award, the Cong Hien Award…?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: Each award has a special meaning for SOOBIN, the Mai Vang Award or the Cong Hien Award are both recognition from experts and music lovers, and both give SOOBIN more motivation to contribute more to the country’s art.

The title “Outstanding Young Vietnamese Face” this time is a recognition from the Party and the State for his efforts not only in music but also in inspiring the community.

– The Prime Minister has assigned the task of “Three Pioneers” to outstanding young people: Pioneer in innovative thinking, Pioneer in developing science and technology, Pioneer in nationalizing human civilization in our country and internationalizing advanced culture, imbued with the identity of the Vietnamese people to the world. With these three tasks, which do you find closest to you and which do you think you can do best, why?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: I think my closest mission is to be a pioneer in nationalizing human civilization in our country and internationalizing advanced culture, imbued with Vietnamese national identity, to the world. Music is a language without borders, and I always want to contribute to bringing the colors of Vietnamese music closer to international friends, while bringing the quintessence of the world into Vietnamese music in a harmonious and creative way. This is also what I have been trying to do in my career.

Desire to make a mark in music

– You have persistently pursued art for many years and have a certain number of fans, but it can be said that from “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” with explosive performances, strong messages about national culture, you have gained more audiences of many ages and many awards. What does “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” mean to your career?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” is truly an important milestone in SOOBIN’s career. This is not just a simple music program, but also an opportunity for me to show a new color, combining modern music and national cultural values.

SOOBIN is very happy that the songs are loved by many audiences of different ages. This gives me more motivation to continue to explore, create and bring more in-depth music products in the future

– What is your career development orientation after the great success of “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai”?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: The journey at “Anh trai vu ngan cong gai” has helped SOOBIN learn and develop a lot. Therefore, in the near future, I will spend time focusing on personal projects, not only to apply the skills learned through the program but also to develop my own mark.

– Những gì bạn thể hiện tại gameshow và concert có phải là nền tảng, động lực cho bạn hay là áp lực vì bạn phải vượt qua “cái bóng” của chính mình ở đó, để trở thành một singer/songwriter độc lập?

Ca sỹ SOOBIN Hoàng Sơn: Chắc chắn là một nền tảng quan trọng và đồng thời cũng là nguồn động lực lớn để mình tiếp tục phát triển. Mỗi sân khấu, mỗi sản phẩm đều là một cột mốc trong hành trình nghệ thuật, giúp mình trưởng thành hơn. Tôi không xem đó là áp lực mà là thử thách để khám phá nhiều khía cạnh mới của bản thân.

Với định hướng trở thành một singer/songwriter độc lập, tôi mong muốn mang đến những sản phẩm âm nhạc mang đậm dấu ấn cá nhân hơn nữa, vừa gần gũi với khán giả, vừa thể hiện rõ cá tính trong âm nhạc của bản thân.

– With a voice, the ability to play musical instruments, good looks, the ability to compose and dance, what do you think you lack to reach the goal/image you want to build in the hearts of the audience?

Singer SOOBIN Hoang Son: I think art is a journey without stopping, there are always new things to learn and improve. I am lucky to have the opportunity to practice many skills, but there are definitely still many things to improve. I hope that each product is not only a good song but also brings experiences that touch the audience’s emotions. That is what I am still trying to perfect every day.
