What is Make Music?
Make Music is a global celebration of music that began in France in 1982 under the name Fête de la Musique. Since then, it has spread to more than 2,000 cities across dozens of countries, all celebrating on the same day.
What makes Make Music unique is that it’s not a traditional music festival. Instead, it’s an open invitation for anyone to participate — regardless of age, skill level, or musical style. Musicians of all kinds, from amateurs to professionals, take to the streets, parks, porches, and public spaces to perform and connect through music. Best of all, every performance is free and open to everyone.
