Information from the organizer:
Come and enjoy the opera performance “Yuzuru”, as part of the events commemorating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Four Japanese artists, including renowned singers such as Ieda Noriko and Mochiki Hiroshi, will be performing.
The opera will feature a Vietnamese stage manager, People’s Artist Lê Hùng, along with the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra conducted by Honna Tetsuji, the Hanoi Children’s Palace Choir, and dancers from the Hanoi Youth Theatre.
“Yuzuru” was composed by Ikuma Dan in 1951, based on the 1949 play of the same name by Junji Kinoshita. The opera tells the story of a poor farmer (Mochiki Hiroshi) who is tempted by the prospect of wealth. His kind and beautiful wife (Ieda Noriko) is actually the reincarnation of a crane he once saved.
