Nhu Nho Nhan – Living Many Lives Through Her Roles
Born in 1998 in Sa Dec, Dong Thap, Nhu Nho Nhan – a stage name as charming and endearing as the actress herself – began her artistic journey during her second year at the School of Drama. Although she started a bit later than her peers due to her shy nature, this young actress has gradually carved out a special place in the hearts of audiences with her sincerity and unwavering passion for the craft.
“There was a time when I couldn’t get into character, couldn’t feel the role, couldn’t create anymore. I felt empty, lost, unsure whether I was really meant for this path,” Nhu recalls. It was a period when she felt disconnected from the artistic world she once loved and dreamed of.
But instead of giving up, she chose to look deeper into life – observing more, experiencing more – to nourish the inner world of her characters. “Whenever I feel tired, I look back at the path I’ve taken – and remember why I chose this profession in the first place. Passion doesn’t disappear, it just needs to be reminded of that first love,” she says, her eyes gleaming with conviction.
Nhu’s way of keeping the flame alive is simple yet deeply emotional: rewatching her favorite roles, finding inspiration in movies, or buying tickets to theater performances to learn from seasoned actors. “When I see the seniors perform, I feel even more motivated to keep going. That’s how I stoke the fire in me,” she shares.
To Nhu, every role is more than just acting – it’s a chance to “live another life.” She doesn’t dwell on whether the role is prominent or has a lot of lines. What matters most is whether the character makes her heart beat faster.
When asked about her process in preparing for a role, Nhu Nho Nhan explains: “I start by reading the script carefully, understanding the context, then imagining how the character would walk, talk, smile, or stand. Some roles require me to change my appearance completely; others push me to learn new skills. But the most important thing is being able to ‘communicate’ with the character – I need to understand their deepest pain, joy, and desires. Once I can truly grasp that, the rest is just letting emotion guide me.”
This May, audiences will see Nhu again, this time playing a grandmother in the Garden of Music show – themed “Happy Farm.” It’s yet another “elderly” role in her growing repertoire, but this one presents a fresh challenge with a unique appearance unlike anything she’s done before. While playing older characters has become familiar for Nhu, each time she returns to the stage, she brings something new, something deeply different and heartfelt.
“I know the road ahead is still long, but I will keep pushing forward to prove myself – so that audiences not only remember me but also trust and journey with me through every role,” she affirms, her voice gentle yet determined.
Nhu Nho Nhan embodies the image of a young artist who is neither loud nor in a rush, but steady, passionate, and constantly growing. It is this quiet love for her craft that has brought – and will continue to bring – her closer to the hearts of her audience.
